Dublin

Welcome to the Pale

So You've decided to visit infamous Dublin. Very good choice! Whatever You're looking for in the capital of Ireland – culture, history or a hopping nightlife – You’ll find plenty of things to do while You’re here. The locals and the city itself will make You feel welcome and right at home with tons of things to do and see during the day. And at night countless pubs and clubs will keep You entertained and happy with a wonderful atmosphere and live music. Also if You’ll planning on staying for a while longer Dublin is a great base for excursions and day trips deeper into the vast Irish countryside by bus and train. Insiders tip: the best time of the year to visit Dublin would definitely be around March 17th - St. Patrick’s day when the whole island turns even more green with green colored beer!

To take in some of Dublin’s turbulent history head over to Dublin Castle for a guided tour of the underground ruins, the castles many rooms and a beautiful wooden chapel. To delve even deeper drop down to Trinity College to see the amazingly ornate, 1000-year-old Book of Kells located in the equally amazing Collage Library. And to top, it off checks out Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. Founded in the 12th century the cathedral is very popular with visitors from around the world thanks to its internal and external beauty and the tallest spire among all churches in Ireland.

Time to relax and have a picnic or a nice long walk in the scenic Phoenix Park. You could easily stay here all day visiting the city zoo, checking out the presidents and the US ambassadors residences, sunbathing on the Wellington Monument or if Your lucky catching a game of rugby on the sports field. Head back to town to take a selfie with the Dublin Spire affectionately dubbed the needle by the locals. A one hundred and twenty-meter stainless steel structure right in the middle of Dublin’s main street – O’Connell St – the shiny monument is impossible to miss.

Finally, the evening has arrived and it’s time for some well-deserved rest and relaxation at Dublin’s many many venues and watering holes. Of course, You have to start with a tour of the Guinness Brewery to find out exactly how the iconic Irish stout gets its deep brown color. The tour will end in the Gravity Bar on the 7th floor of the brewery where You can enjoy a panoramic view of the Dublin skyline while having a pint or two of Guinness. Afterwards, head over to the Old Jameson Distillery where at the end of the tour of the lovely old building You will take part in a whiskey tasting experience and become a Certified whiskey taster with a diploma to show for it. To finish off Your night You should visit the Temple Bar on Temple Lane. This iconic venue is always full to the brim with tourists from around the world and Dubliners alike looking for a bit of good time within its distinctive red walls.

Hope You’ve enjoyed Dublin. If You’re planning to stick around Ireland for a little while longer why not catch a train or a bus to the Wicklow Mountains or The Cliffs of Moher for a lovely day trip and some beautiful vistas of the Irish countryside and seaside respectively. However, You decide to spend Your time be sure to have fun and enjoy Yourself the Irish way!
