Indulge in chocolate in Paris
An annual festival in celebration of chocolate is a dream come true for chocoholics and the large convention centre beneath the Louvre hosts just that Chocolate lovers may be delighted at the prospect of treating themselves to the offerings of Salon du Chocolat in Paris, open at the city’s Porte de Versaille from October 29th to November 2nd.Now in its 14th year, the event will feature almost 130 different chocolate-makers and over 400 exhibitors from all over the globe. Both educational and interactive, Salon du Chocolat offers visitors the chance to learn about the cocoa-producing lifestyles of countries such as Venezuela and Mexico as well as view demonstrations from top chefs and confectioners.
Dishes to be prepared live will include Breton mini tarts, white chocolate and citrus fruit created by Eric Vergne of International Relais Desserts and chocolate jam by Francis Moit of Ferrie Gourmande.
After admiring a wall of chocolate graffiti inspired by New York street art and purchasing a signed book on chocolate from La Hune, visitors can finally taste some of the delicious offerings in the main exhibition area.
Organisers Sylvie Douce and Francois Jeantet say the exhibition “reveals the pleasure” chocolate provides all over the world.
The show will also travel to New York, Tokyo, Beijing and Moscow, reflecting its reputation on the gastronomic calendar.
