Between November 23rd and 27th Amsterdam will be holding their annual Cannabis Cup competition. Although marijuana is not legal in the Netherlands, for over thirty years the use, sale and cultivation has not been seen as criminal. So, soak it up and smoke it up while more than thirty strands of cannabis are featured and judged throughout the four day event. The official smoke-off 2008 is not all about recreational use, medical, industrial and even nutritional uses are presented through a variety of marijuana related products such as hemp clothing, hemp cosmetics and hemp burgers. Live music is, not surprisingly the pulse of the Cannabis Cup. Bands like the Toots, Andrew Tosh, Steel Pulse and Redman will be preforming for your listening enjoyment. Thankfully, getting around Amsterdam is quite easy, they have a wonderful public transit system consisting of an underground, trams and buses. Buses run twenty four hours a day, but trams and metro stop at 12:30 am. Biking is very popular in Amsterdam, but be sure to employ the bike lock, otherwise you bike is guaranteed to be stolen.
