The hot-spot of this festival is Queen Pageant, held on Saturday, 10th of April. Forget all those preconceived stereotypes you may have about traditional beauty contests and discover Japanese conception of the beauty. In addition, don’t miss the fashion events. The Kimono Fashion Show will spotlight Vintage Japanese Kimonos. That is not all! Be ready to discover martial arts displays, tea ceremonies and other traditional Japanese events.
The second part of the festival is held between the 17th and 18th of April, 2010. The culmination of the festival is two-hour Japanese-style parade will bring the Festival to a dazzling close on Sunday afternoon, 18th of April. The parade usually includes several beautiful kimono clad dance groups, scout troops, bands, schools groups, cars carrying various politicians and floats for past. This unique procession will begin at City Hall, Polk and McAllister Streets, at 1 p.m. and will wind its way along a fifteen block route to Japan-town. Everyone is invited to join!
