Today starts the Venice Film Festival 2011. It’s considered to be one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals on the planet, which aim is to raise awareness and show to the world all the various aspects of international cinema in all its forms, which are: art, entertainment in spirit and freedom. Everyone works on the major figures as a contribution towards raising awareness of the history of cinema.This year it will be the 68th annual festival of art. Starts from today, and will be on until 10of September. If you happened to be in Italy, on these date go to visit Venice, you wont regret it, you will feel the special atmosphere whats going on there. Culmination will be when the complete group of winners will be announced.
Today as on opening will start with political “The Ides of March”. And many others famous persons like Tomas Alfredson’s “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy”; David Cronenberg’s “A Dangerous Method”;and RomanPolanski’s”Carnage”, and actors like Andrea Riseborough as Mrs Simpson. And pop diva’s Madonna’sW.E.,a film about King Edward VIII’s romance with very popular American Wallis Simpson also screens out of competition.
Venice Film Festival Awards has been grown a lot, today into its 7th decade, from a strictly European lineup to feature a varied and outstanding international venue. And this fact makes the festival one of the earliest predictors of winners for other film top awards worldwide, also including leading Hollywood contenders at the very famous Oscars.
