Rio de Janeiro, that’s a place I would like to be right now, and I think many of you would…is nothing if not exhilarating is called marvellous city. Rio is the city that never fails to impress you, is one of the worlds most beautiful cities and still Rio is the most well known Brazilian city. You have all heard about the sparkling beaches, green belts and the great attitude of the locals embrace the tourists to the world where heaven meets the earth. But one of the most famous thing about Rio is the carnival of Rio de Janeiro, with its samba dancers jiggling their hips attracting thousands of tourists around the world,starting on February on Ash Wednesday.So, most of us have heard about the world wide Rio Carnival, with sparkling happy dancers all over the country. It’s a great publicity for the city, all the great restaurants, beaches and shopping areas are located around the carnival places. It starts 40 days before the Easter, which is the time when you supposed to abstain from all bodily pleasures. Well, the 40 days before that is the carnival in which all of Brazilians are going wild. It’s a great 4 days celebrations, all over the Brazil, but the brightest is in Rio. It’s an amazing opportunity to show all the world their culture, learning samba with them will be a priceless experience, with all this they sum up their culture!It’s known as the greatest show on earth, considered by many as one of the must see events, this year starting on February 8th.
So you want know why its called cidade maravilhosa? Because of the Portuguese explorers who landed at Rio back in 1502, the settlers founded Sebastiao do Rio de Janeiro, and since than the city became a wealthy exporting diamonds, gold and sugar, with all the monarchs living there cos of the wealthy location, the Rio became the best city in Brazil, and the top destinations at that time. The great beaches, museums, rain-forests, and all the glitz that is in the city, with the top tourist attractions, has made Rio what it is today, The best city in Brazil.
