More flowers every day!
There is one day for the beloved women, 8th of March that celebrates almost all world, I would say the second after Mother’s day that is remembered world wide. This day is annually held to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across all the nations, the day is also known as United Nations Day for women’s Rights and International Peace. I would love to say that the right all women have , are all the same throughout the world, but unfortunately nowhere in the world can women claim to have all the same rights and opportunities as men.Maybe nowadays it’s more about the flowers and has become already as a marketing trick, but if we look at the background why it started , it was pretty serious deal for the ladies. The very first International Women’s day occurred on March 19 in 1911, there were few that started fight the unfair role we women have in this world, and the meetings and activities was a big success in countries like Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. The things got better when back in 1848 the Prussian king promised to introduce votes for women.
Imagine , that the majority of the world’s 1.3 billion absolute poor are women, isn’t that ridiculous? If we look statistics, women receive 30 and 40 percent less pay than men earn for the same work. Even if we would close the eyes on this little difference, with excuses by raising kids and not be able to fully give themselves in work, there is another very big thing, like the fact that women also continue to be victims of violence, with rape and domestic violence listed as significant causes of disability and death among women worldwide.
There are few women’s day symbols , which might be a little bit different in diverse countries, like Russia that would give away a bunch of roses, Italians would go for yellow velvet flowers , the original logo of this day is purple and white and features the symbol of Venus, which is also the symbol of being female. I hope all and each of you will get a flowers and invitation for dinner, but most of all I wish you to be treated this way all year round.
