An important part of every culture and country that you visit, should be cuisine, and Icelanders have one, icelanders are big meat eaters, even though the food traditions have been changed heavily in the past 20-30 years. Nowadays everyone seems to be too busy to stay in the kitchen and cook great dinners, even if back then it was like that, dinner was never quick and easy how it is now. Icelanders make use of fish, lamb, dairy products and a wide variety of cheese, they have adapted many recipes from French, Dutch, American and Italian cuisines, but there are also typical Icelandic only dishes, which are pretty heavy, but very delicious. The typical consist of fish and meat products, heavy steaks with cream sauce, caramelized potatoes and bread soup , Lamb pate, meat soup, Vegetables and smoked puffins, visiting iceland, you have to accept a thought of gaining few extra pounds, for the sake of culture of course.
