Hosting Olympic and Paralympic Games 2016
In 2009 at Copenhagen, the decision was made by the IOC President Jacques Rogge, Rio de Janeiro was announced to award the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. So it’s time now to work for it, preparing stadiums, hotels, houses, beaches, everything to welcome the thousands of visitors in the best possible way. It was and will be a great challenge for Rio and Brazil as a country itself, proving to the world its excellence in organising world class events.Brazil is the largest country in South America, with the capital Brasilia, its name the country took from Brazilwood, which is a tree growing on the coast of Brazil, so specific to only this area. Rio de Janeiro is the second biggest city in the country and it’s spectacular, in fact known as the cide maravilhosa or “The Marvellous city”. Rio has amazing mixture of natural beauty, urban architecture and breathtaking long sandy beaches.
For those ones who don’t follow the Olympics , here will be a little description, what Olympic Games are truly about. Olympics is an international , multi sport event held every four years, gathering together, and i wont be scared of this word, the whole world. Rio de Janeiro will be the host of 2016’s Olympic Games, on the August 21st, the paralympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro from 7th September to 18th September, these will be the first Olympic Games held in South America.
What will expect you in 2016 Olympic Games? It will be huge, as it is now, to prepare for it. 2016 upcoming Olympic Games will represent 28 sports and 38 disciplines , more than 10.500 athletes from 205 participating nations that will take part in these games. So Brazil will expect around 100.000 people who will be directly involved in the organisation of the Games plus 70.000 volunteers.
Not even to mention those millions of people around the city. It seems like this will be the biggest happening in Rio’s lifetime, thousands of media professionals, supporters and fans of the Olympiads. The marvelous city will transfer into busiest capital in the world at this time, still never losing its unique spirit and love for life.
