They say, whether you go, go with all your heart, and that’s more than true, you have to feel it as yours, sometimes there are exceptions, that the country might turn out so much better than you thought it would be, but mostly, you just feel it! So, you really have to want to visit Porto in Portugal, set you to this mood and magical things will happen. Portugal, you will love the country itself immediately, and Porto is simply the cherry on the top of the cake, looking as gorgeous as a pop-up town.There is no time needed to just love it, colourful tumbledown dreams and modern building next to those, bell towers and glamorous baroque churches, and a line of beaux arts building, competing with each other. This city doesn’t need a publicity or specific festivals, it’s stunning itself, everyone coming back, will suggest it, it’s safe, clean and fulfilled with warm hearted citizens.
Sunsets and sunrises are the most beautiful in here, glass of wine, beautiful and peaceful nature and staircases zigzagging nowhere. The historic center mingles between old stores and village style plazzas, Roman style old houses and very alive atmosphere overall, wit suburbs by the sea. Even if Porto has its laid back sense, in the last two decades the city has changed extremely, with a remarkable renaissance! With Ãlvaro Siza Vieira’s Museu de Arte Contemporanea and Rem Koolhaas’ Casa da Musica, brand new metro system, and well, the welcoming hearts of citizens haven’t changed a bit!
Porto is a great place to stay over for a weekend or even for a week, and still there won’t be enough time to see everything,that’s why people keep coming back. Maybe the good wine is what keeps this place packed 🙂 It’s a long running mecca for wine, specially the Vila Nova de Gaia, where everyone is able to come and taste, countless cellars are open for that. Many artists and musicians come in Porto to perform, so don’t get confused once you arrive and find Piazzas full of people drinking and singing, it feels like you’ve been invited in a huge Summer night’s block party.
