With November just around the corner, we turn our attention to what is one of the world’s most popular holidays. While Halloween has been widely celebrated in North America for several years, it is becoming increasingly popular around the globe. Here we will take a look just how differently Halloween is celebrated throughout the world.If you find yourself in Mexico or Latin America for Halloween you will be there to celebrate The Day of the Dead known as, Dia de los Muertos. Celebrated throughout the region with flowers, candy and traditional food, families gather to celebrate the lives of dead loved ones.Lasting until the 2nd November, the three day festival is heavily influenced by traditions dating back to the Aztecs. A strong belief in the afterlife is a necessity to really get involved here.
Similar to Halloween in Latin America, for most people in Asia this time of year is seen as a spiritual celebration. Moreover, a time to remember and celebrate the lives of dead loved ones. In China they night of Halloween is passed by the lighting of lanterns to help guide the spirits of dead ancestors. The giving of water and food also takes place across the the country.
