67th anniversary 12th May
Prague…everyone have heard at least about this incredible city, the ancient capital of Charles IV’s Bohemian Kingdom, and has played a pivotal role in the development of Central Europe since the Middle Ages.This incredibly vibrant city of stunning buildings and lovely old squares will offer you so much joy and pleasant moments with your family or friends, this what you will see, the ancient buildings, which have been transformed into fine restaurants and stylish hotels, is the result of Prague, will admit that tourism in Prague has become very important to the capital.
And of course, being one of the most attractive capitals in the Europe, the city has to be organized with many fancy festivals, and there is one very soon to offer you, the Prague Spring Festival. The origins of this festival date back to 1946.
It wasn’t a great time for the country, it was just in a justifiably celebratory mood, World War II had been over for exactly one year, strange, but the Prague Philharmonic celebrated its 50th anniversary that same year. And that’s what happened, the two events were combined into the Prague Spring International Music Festival, this will be the 67th anniversary.
This year it will be from the 12th May until the 4th June, offering you a brilliant programme of things to do , to visit and to enjoy, and finally to find your very own special one. Every year starting on the anniversary of the death of Bedrich Smetana, with his cycle of symphonic poems Ma vlast (My Country), and it used to close with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.
This festival gives a great opportunities for the young talents, and has made many successful careers worldwide. And of course many well known names, who have graced the festival, such as Leopold Stokowski, Yehudi Menuhin, Arthur Rubinstein, František Rauch, Natalia Gutman, Jessye Norman, and Luciano Pavarotti.
