Nuit Blanche, 7 Paris

4 October 2008
For the seventh consecutive year, on 4 October, the city of Paris will be illuminated all night long with the most astonishing creations by artists (Patti Smith, Ryoji Ikeda…) and designers (Javier Téllez, Jeremy Blake…) from all artistic disciplines. Five major Parisian train stations will be the focal points of this brand new edition of Nuit Blanche…

With a subdued atmosphere, soft lighting, and shapes that take on new aspects, this unusual initiative, choreographed by the Paris City Council, is back again this year with ever-more surprises.

Nuit Blanche is the opportunity to discover the French capital in another light! On the programme of this invitation to the voyage by night: plastic arts, installations, screenings, concerts, dance, readings, live performance, etc.

To avoid the dispersal of the event, the focus will be on high-quality works that will give the greatest impact. Churches, towers, monuments, and in particular, Paris’s major train stations bathed in light will for this occasion become the places to visit.

This year, Patti Smith at the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the American Tony Oursler at the Gare du Nord, the Frenchman Pierrick Sorin at the Gare de l’Est, and the Indian Shaad Ali at the Gare de Lyon will be just some of the artists taking part in your next up-and-coming sleepless night!
