The Olympic Torch

Arriving in Rome
On the 8th of December the Olympic Flame arrived in Rome, Italy.
After having been lit in Greece
The Italian President Ciampi lit the Torch and passed to the first Torch bearers Baldini (Olympic gold medalist)
The flame is now going to be taken all over Italy by 10001 Torch bearers for more than 11000 kilometres and 600 cities.
it was taken to St. Peter’s square (Piazza San Pietro)where a
large crowd of spectators and the Pope, Benedict XVI, were waiting to welcome it.
The Pope said he was very pleased to recieve the flame and that he wanted it to
remind everyone of the values of peace and brotherhood that are the foundations of
the Olympics.

On the 10th of February, 2006 it will be arriving in Turin
where the Olympic Winter Games are going to be held to give the start to the XX Winter Olympic Games in History.
