The Kraal Community Projects
Dear Friends,I hope you are all keeping well and healthy.
At The Kraal, the community projects are moving forward slowly but surely. I will soon send you more information and updates on the coming projects in our area, which we are coordinating through our NPO, The Kraal Toddlers.
For the time being, I would like to inform you about the state of emergency
at the Nomzi pre-school. The initial school structure in mud bricks was built 6 years ago and is now collapsing, leaving the pupils and the teacher only one option the main building. Therefore, it makes it unsafe for the pupils and teachers to attend school, especially now that it is winter.
We, Tsweleni residents, have come to the conclusion that Nomzi Pre-Primary school should be rebuilt from scratch, as a new strong structure. We would then break down the initial mud-structure.
The Kraal Toddlers (The NPO of The Kraal Backpackers) offered to take the task, as we have been the initiators and coordinators of the pre-school project since 2000. We feel that this new project is the opportunity to involve other community members, even though occasional residents, such as cottage owners and overseas sponsors in participating.
Rebuilding a new structure is very costly. Our Buy a Brick initiative has brought so far a couple of thousand rands. We believe that if as a united Tsweleni Resident group we all financially or materialistically contributed, the school could be rebuilt within a month. We are looking at raising R 100.000. This amount would cover the building expenses, labour workforce, and maintenance for the next years.
This project would be coordinated locally, by the Kraal Toddlers.
All funds would be monitored through our N.P.O. bank account, and registered into our transparent book keeping. All sponsors, participants would receive regularly updates and information concerning the pre-school project, and we would invite all contributing members to our yearly meeting.
We would like to emphasize that this project’s aim is to unable the pupils to have access to education, and a better future. We are doing this from our heart not for an ego satisfaction.
This project is not an opportunity for companies or individuals to claim that the pre-school belongs to them. Let us move forward as a Tsweleni joint venture, and not repeat the mistakes of the past!
We look forward to your immediate support, so that we can make this project come true within the next month.
Thank you in advance for all your help and support.
All the best,
Malvina
