Wide awake in Rome 2006
In Rome this September? All night long on September 8th 2006, around five hundred events covering visual arts and theatre, conferences and volunteer activities will all take place throughout the city of Rome. Its a great opportunity to see Rome at its best – at night and best of all, free!Shops, restaurants and bars will remain open. The whole city will
take part in this free event, from the centre to the suburbs; shops and restaurants to art galleries and museums; cinemas and nightclubs to churches and state buildings.
This special night is dedicated to the under privileged. Charitable
donations are collected throughout the night and free meals are offered to
city’s homeless. This is a night to bring attention to greater social issues, also emphasizing Romes cultural and artistic vitality.
This year the Notte Bianca will present hundreds of events and the participation of over 1000 artists, including Gianni Morandi, Gigi Proietti, and even a scene from the famous Romeo and Juliet choreographed by Amedeo Amodio.
The initiative is free, including the public transport system (after 10 pm).
All locations will be easily accessible thanks to increased transport
services throughout the night.
