Cine-Iberoamericano Film fest!
Huelva’s Festival de Cine Iberoamericano has become an important acid test of critical and public opinion for recent Iberian-American cinematic works. The event, divided into 25 competitions across city venues, features 120 feature-length films from both sides of the Atlantic. The festival’s top award is the coveted Colón de Oro del Jurado.
The winner receives a substantial amount of prize money and, of course, an excellent platform for the promotion of their work. Other top prizes include the Colón de Oro del Público as well as the Carabela de Plata for debut film-makers.
In 2008, the festival presents the prestigious Ciudad de Huelva award to Enriquez González Macho, for his outstanding contribution to Iberian-American cinema.
As president of Alta Films (a distribution and production company), he has made it possible for several Iberian-American works to reach Spanish cinema screens, including Colombian film Santanás, directed by Andrés Baiz and José Padilha’s Brazilian work, Tropa de élite.
