Summertime in Santiago and Chilean capital fills with excitement when Santiago a Mil comes to the city. It is an event that presents a mix of mainstream and experimental theater performances. The city-sponsored festival was launched in 1994 for the first time, and at that time its program included only five plays. Since then the festival has become more international in scope and more vibrant in terms of the number of performers. Santiago a Mil is an annual festival with a multitude of theatrical performances. This year it is taking place between the 3rd and 31st of January.

This annual festival draws visitors to Santiago to take part in the excitement of theatrical performances that are held all around the city. The locals and the guests of the city can enjoy a wide variety of performances national and international performances, large-scale street spectacles, artistic presentations in city’s theatres and cultural centers. The participating countries include: Germany, Argentina, Spain, USA, Columbia and much more. Categories being featured are best plays, special guests, emerging talent, street theatre and opening performances.
