Florence is anything

The city is located in Tuscany
Florence is anything but a good vibe. The city is located in the region of Tuscany, known to be the stuff of Italian dreams and movie-goer’s wistful desires. In Florence you see a city that offers so much beauty yet in so little space. During the Renaissance, Florence was the world’s capital of art, architecture, commerce, and political thought. The area now still echoes of its rich history, with streets and buildings dedicated to the best of Florence, Dante among them.

Piazza Del Duomo is virtually visible from every part of Florence. Walk up all 463 steps and you’ll see Florence with a bird’s eye view from the cupola of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. Go here in June and you’ll see many Florentines come out of their houses donned in costumes and other colorful accessories to play their own version of soccer: calcio storico. Two teams of 27 people face off over a wooden ball yelling and kicking for the win.

Also in June you can come across the Festival of San Giovanni Battista, one you cannot miss, as it features a gigantic fireworks display in Piazza Michelangelo. Throughout the summer you can find music festivals and concerts almost popping up at will in the streets. You’ll most likely come across many after spending the day wandering through piazzas and museums. If you have time you can see summer exhibitions in the Boboli Gardens, and even better – tanning exhibitionism.
