Find yourself in London

and you will find much more.
London echoes history, and if you do not believe it, take note when you arrive. London has been a major human settlement for almost two millennia and relishes in its history like no other. It has been a hub to settings in English books and is overgrown with roots in English culture and literature. Whether your impression of London is the foggy and Victorian London of Charles Dickens or mysterious sleuthing city of Sherlock Holmes, first find yourself ready for history at your fingertips.

Be cultured. If there were a mantra of London, this would be it. London is home to multitudes of museums, galleries, and theatres. Visit the National Gallery (founded in 1824) for free and look upon the works of the popular Vincent Van Goh and Michelangelo or the lesser known Titian and Canaletto. Be sure to visit the “Albertopolis” or South Kensington, the cultural and scientific quarter where you can find the three major museums: Victoria and Albert Museum, the National History Museum, and the Science Museum. While you are in London, make room for a small concert, as it is known to be the home of classical and popular music.

If you bring your winter coat, the New Year’s Celebration in London is worth the chill. Each year the New Year’s Day Parade and Festival rouses the crowds in London. The parade is filled with marching bands, acrobats, and many more performers welcoming in the New Year. For another festival of enormous size, try the Notting Hill Carnival that happens every August during the Bank Holiday. Here you will see the streets come alive and twenty miles of vibrant costumes filling your sight.
