Catania is one of the three italian cities hosting the second round of the volleyball World Cup (from the 30th September to the 2nd October). The top team from each group played in Catania (group G and group I) will qualify for the third round of the tournament.

Palacatania, the sports arena wich first opened its doors in 1997 to host the Universiadi, can hold up to 5000 spectators. Many world League matches have already been played there, and local teams (Pallavolo Catania and T.V. Catania) regularly use the venue.

Catania is a beautiful example of sicilian baroque. It is nestled at the foot of mount Etna, The highest active vulcano in Europe. The city stretches from rocky coastline to sandy beaches.

Ostello del plebiscito is the nearest accomodation to Palacatania.
