Regional Red Chili Champion
This year will be held the 20th annual Fire on the -off Friday and Saturday, July 8-9. will turn up the heat for Chili Cook-off. The event start on Friday, with the salsa and verde chili competitions and the Kickoff Block Party in the Village on Friday evening. Saturday the red chili will take center stage with tasting available all day.At the weekend they are expecting dozens of chefs, competing for top honors in the verde or green chili and salsa competitions, and also for the coveted “” title, which features a cash prize, 10,000$. So in total the organizers are planning to give away more than 15,000$ in cash and prizes to the top chili cooks, all for great live entertainment and fun and games. The big awards will be handed out at 5:30 p.m.
All the weekend guests will enjoy live entertainment in the Village center from The Whiskey River Band, Ferncliff Collective, Shawn Owens and more. Crafters will line the Village patio, and kids of all ages can enjoy arts and crafts, a climbing wall, eurobungy and all of Snowshoe’s summer activities like lake and pool activities, scenic lift rides and more. Those with a competitive streak can compete in the Great Games of Chili. Guests will compete for prizes in events like the chili pepper eating contest.
Snowshoe’s summer temperatures rarely exceed 75 degrees, so if things will get really hot in the chili category, the weather will be such a relief, as Snowshoe is known for its cool Summer climate, so it means great escape for those suffering soaring summertime temps elsewhere.
