It became independent in 1965, before known as Rhodesia, it had a very well developed infrastructure and financial sector. With a prime minister and later president, Robert Mugabe, back in 1980, has sought to retain power through political repression and corruption. The economy stabilized a little bit, allowing foreign currencies to be used for all transactions has curtailed inflation, unfortunately it has become one of the Africa’s poorest countries.
