The Festival of Lights
Every single year in London on October Trafalgar Square hosts Diwali on the Square, Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is celebrated by communities across London. The festival attracts thousands of people from all the central London, is on 26 October , but Diwali on the Square takes place on 16 October.The magical event transforms the square in amazing light displays, floating lanterns, food stalls, music, dance and storytelling. Diwali has religious significance for Hindu , Sikh and Jaincommunities. Known as Deepavali or Diwali means “a row of lampsâ€, representing the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. It’s considered to be the new beginning and renewal of commitment to family values. The all event is about love, joy , reflection, resolution, forgiveness, light and knowledge, all the positive things on the earth.
Right in the heart in London, the mixture of traditional and contemporary music and dance,traditional circular dance known at the garba accompanied by live music from the Trafalgar Square stage. Many activities for all the families also for kids, expecting even more of a vibrant atmosphere as Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Londoners of all creeds and backgrounds unite to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
The participants will share special prayers and messages, celebrating the triumph of good and renewal of life, it’s also very common to see lamps during the five days, as they symbolizes the arrival of Lord Rama as he liberates Queen Sita and quashes the evil Ravana.
