Lisbon and its narrow streets

Seven hills city
According to the legend, the city is situated on seven hills. Lisbon and its narrow streets in pavements packed with Art Nouveau cafés offers you a lot to discover!
The most admired spots in Lisbon are located around Baixa (that shows you a different Lisbon), Belém (have a look at the grandiose Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and the famous Torre de Belém!), Rossio Praça do Comércio… On the hill around, the St. George’s Castle is a visit not to miss, the Alfama area which is famous for its architecture with the “sounds and the smells” of the old Lisbon, the Mouraria and the Tagus River.

Lisbon also hosts a great number of notable museums of modern and ancient art, like the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, the National Coach Museum, the Berardo Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, or the Carmo Archaeological Museum. But there is more to experience in Lisbon other than its cultural and historical heritage: the Bairro Alto is the centre of nightlife with a choice of restaurants and bars where the traditional Fado,(Portuguese music) can be listened. Down through Chiado, you will find during the day the streets filled with active crowds travelling to the modern art museums, the local galleries, the cafés….

Lisbon is, moreover, a city where you will love to make shopping. The Centro Commercial Colombo is the biggest shopping centre in Iberian Peninsula and will offer you quite a lot of options. And for those who prefer to shop in more traditional and local markets, there is a charming flea market at Campo de Santa Clara.

What about doing a day trip into a Bygone era? Your first stop: Obidos. This fortified village of clear houses and narrow streets has a particular medieval ambience and it is a great place to relax and to make nice promenades.
