St. Peter’s, also Piazza Navona
This year seems to be a crisis one for everyone, the Christmas decorations gets more poor and the sales doesn’t seem like sales any more…but still in Rome there is always fun to be, unforgettable memories that will cheer you up all year round, the reason why people head to Rome on Christmas mostly is Vaticans merit.Rome is not blessed with snow usually during this period, but sometimes it happens, like last year, and the thing is Italians have no time to enjoy this miracle of nature, cos they are too busy panicking, cars parked all over the streets, total chaos and desperation, for someone who comes from snowing countries like me, it’s a quite of show so at the first minute the the tiny snow start to fall, they immediately leave the cars and run home! That’s one of the part of Christmas spirit here, the other one can be nice walks trough the best shopping streets, Via Condotti, Via del Corso, Via Cola di Rienzo and many others, where Italian designer shops stand one next to the other, also plenty out lets, where you can buy beautiful stuff for great value of money.
You will enjoy Christmas nativity scenes in many churches, mainly in St. Peter’s, also Piazza Navona helds Christmas market. All the Christmas spirit starts at the 8th of December, the bars and the restaurants roll out the red carpets, that’s another tradition, just at the entrance of the local they put red carpet as a symbol of Christmas, and take it off all dirty at the 6th January. There is a lot to do also for those ones, interested in cultural events, or the Italian way of living life, easy with calm, even if it seems for us foreigners they stress out for nothing, in general they have a very positive look to VITA. Italy is a very pleasant place to be around this time, thanks to the mild climate, you can enjoy outdoor activities with a cup of rich hot chocolate or mulled wine.
