Galetta des rois
Paris, Paris, every girls dream to get there, well, almost every … if I could change the weather there , probably I would be one of them…it’s a place where you have to go, even if it’s only to mark that you have been there, no doubt is one of the most romantic place on the earth. All the holiday mood makes it even more romantic, and it’s still one with delicious pastries all over the capital!French definitely knows how to rest, they have great holiday calendar, one after the other, so on the 6th January they celebrate or better to say, keep celebrating the Festival of Kings. Each Sunday closest to Epiphany, every Parisian patisseries gather the Fete des Rois. They celebrate it with a very special pastries, known as galetta des rois, this delicious pie appear after Christmas time, and you will find it in all bakeries for whole month in January.
This delicious treat is like a piece of gold, encasing a sweet marzipan filling, there is an hidden somewhere within, a china figurine (la feve). There is a whole tradition coming with it, the person who chooses the piece containing the little figurine is king or queen for the day and entitled to wear the paper crown that comes with the cake. So, if you are visiting Paris during this month definitely get the treat and enjoy your stay in the romantic city as a king!
