Summer is a great time to visit Rome, even if it feels like the sun will melt you away, during the day you can enjoy the beaches around the capital and during the hot nights , explore completely the best spots of the city… there are many concerts and festivals going on during July, or do it Roman way, going to the L’Isola Del Cinema, open air cinema , located on the mysterious place, Isola Tiberina.

This island is surrounded by countless legends, linked inseparably to the origins of Rome, a place , where Ponte Rotto stands, broken bridge, the first stone bridge in Rome, which several times was restored because of the turbulence of the Tiber, leaving only a few remains. Between June and September annually Isola Tiberina helds a cinema festival, that gathers many visitors and Romans together. Films shown in recent years have included Hitchcock and Kubrick retrospectives and films by Robert Altman and Wong Kar Wai, along with many other Italian and foreign films.

Not only films can be seen, there are plenty bars and cafés lining by the river, wide variety of stalls selling everything from environmentally friendly knickknacks to DVDs.It’s a splendid place to chill in with couple of friends, having drink, enjoying cinema classics and browsing the stalls. Whatever you are doing in Rome, you have to experience Rome by night, getting know its characteristic streets in a city which is not rich only for the history but very full of life.
