Important in almost every aspect, Rio de Janeiro has fame and influence. It has its political, cultural and economical importance in South America and to the travelers, it’s a must to see. Rio is the second largest city in Brazil and the main tourist destination of the Southern Hemisphere, known also as the “Marvelous City”, for the natural beauty and the unique culture present in every moment and place.

The landscape of the city is made by some very known components, such as the Pao de Acucar, the Corcovado, on which top the statue of the Christ the Redeemer stand with open arms, the famous beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and of Barra da Tijuca, and some less known lakes, like the “Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas”. There are some protected areas that keep the green on this metropolis, that include a zoo and a botanic garden.

A city built on such a special land has to have a good number of activities, and Rio doesn’t disappoint. Apart from relaxing and laying on the sand of the beaches, one can go trekking and hiking within the forested area, hang gliding and paragliding even for untrained people, that can have a view of the city and land on the beach, and enjoy the nightlife, that is good and cheap. Rio is the land of Samba and Bossa Nova, and this type of music can be mainly found in the district of Lapa, and to find other clubs and bars with other types of music, check the flyers and paper around the city.

Rio de Janeiro is in fact a marvelous city, with all its colors, music and people living their lives in paradise like if it was completely normal. In Rio you can taste the tropical dream every time of the year, in every samba being played at the corner and in every grain of the white sand of Ipanema. Adventure, culture, fun and relaxation are Rio’s nature, and it’s waiting for you to enjoy them.

The Carnival in Rio is the most famous in the world, with an explosion of colours, beats, happiness and glitter. Every year the Schools of Samba parade along a big avenue, singing, dancing, playing and acting. It’s a feast that includes every kind of people, from rich to poor, famous and unknown, all participating with their colourful costumes full of feathers.

For its importance and magnificence, Rio de Janeiro is going to host the 2016 Summer Olympics and some of the matches on the 2014 FIFA World Cup, so this is the hotspot! Rio will give you a trip to never forget!
