If you love marine life and are traveling around the western parts of Australia at any stage, Monkey Mia should be on your list of must-see places. Despite being a popular tourist resort located around 800km from Perth, in Western Australia and 25km north east of Denham in the Shark Bay Marine Park which is a World Heritage Site.

Monkey Mia is also the lab location for extensive behavioral and biological research on Bottlenose dolphins.

However there is so much more to do there, the climate makes it almost perfect to visit all year round, with clear waters and warm days, you can swim with the wild dolphins, cruise, sail or snorkel the stunning waters, go for an early morning camel ride on the beach or take an Aboriginal Cultural walk.

Take a coach tour of Shark Bay including the stunning surrounds of Eagle Bluff and Shell Block Quarry, or check out the Peron Peninsula, Shell Beach and the Stromolites in style in a stretch limo.

Head down to one of the town jetties for a feast of fresh squid and other local catches or experience a true blue Aussie BBQ.

If you love to dive, Cape Peron National Park is the best on the West coast or if you prefer to stay a little dryer you can check out Ocean Park where you can meet and greet turtles, sea snakes, sharks, stingrays and stonefish.

Action seekers can go 4WD on awesome wild scrub tracks and sand dunes or hire a car and drive yourself, take a bushwalk through the rugged lands surrounding Monkey Mia, just remember the sunscreen and water you will need it under the hot Aussie sun.

Take a visit to Australia’s only accessible Black Pearl Farm; it’s a floating farm that is open all year round.

If fishing is more your thing, a number of charters can be caught, where you spend all day on the water with pro-fishermen to catch a big one and eat him while you are there or hire a little dingy and go floating round the waters looking for your own catch, some of the local specialties include whiting, mackerel, tuna, cod, snapper and bone fish.

Swim, Kayak, jump on a glass bottomed boat, play a round of min-golf or bird watch.
