Christmas in Athens

Clear blue sunny skies.
Christmas is almost here in Athens, even if it doesn’t always seem that way. During the days with clear blue sunny skies it’s difficult to believe that we are half way through December. Coming from Northern Europe December should be cold and cloudly with a little bit of snow, not warm and sunny like here in Athens.

However Christmas is appearing in the evening. Once it’s dark the little Christmas lights come on.

Walking around under the lights hanging off the lamp posts finally brings a little Christmas atmosphere. So far my favorite is Kotzia Sq. The National Bank, Town Hall and surrounding buildings are covered in little white lights, there are little Christmas trees in the windows and now even an ice rink in the centre.

Here at least Christmas seems different but still beautiful.
