Walk through the labyrinthine streets
Prague is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, and its centre is part of the world heritage. As you walk through the labyrinthine streets, you will discover auantities of shops, hostels, cafés, restaurants and art galeries.If you stroll through the streets of the Old Town, Josefov, or Mala Strana you will realise of the architectural wealth and diversity that the city displays, as Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque mix with Art Nouveau, Cubism and Contemporary architecture; and the coloured buildings stand out amoung the minutely sculpted and frescoed façades.
The whole city is well worth seeing, however it is riddled with particular attractions that deserve special attention. The Old Town square is a good place to start as it is a centre for cafés, street performing and general fun. Close-by is one of Prague’s most famous attractions, the Old Town Hall and its 14th century Astronomical Clock.
Petrin Hill park is the largest area of greenery that displays a view of the city skyline; and across the city, several major theatres can be found, such as the Prague State Opera House, the Magical Lantern Theatre, and the National Theatre, while many exquisite churches are dispersed across the different districts, like the Gothic-to-Baroque church of St James, and Tyn Cathedral, the most famous Gothic cathedral of the city which dominates the Old Town Square.
At night the atmosphere of Prague becomes hauntingly beautiful, as monuments light up and the cobbled streets snake away into the darkened alley-ways. This setting makes for a unique experience as all the restaurants, bars, and night clubs fully come alive.
