64th anniversary 2011
The huge events is held each spring in Cannes in France, one of the most prestigious and famous film festivals in the world. This year it will be held from May 11 until May 22.The festival receives the support from the French government and works directly with sponsors to staff and pay for the festival. For this reason is almost impossible to find job offers in this section.
It will be the 64th Cannes Film festival this year. Robert De Niro, an American actor, will be the president of the jury for the main competition, instead the french filmmaker Michel Gondry will head the jury for the short film competition. Midnight in Paris is scheduled to be the opening film, written by Woody Allen. Melanie Laurent will be inopening and closing ceremonies hostess.
Bernardo Bertolucci, the Italian film director, will be presented with Honorary Palme d’Or as inaugural Award.
The annual festival is a forum for all styles, schools and genres of film. As its a most special place for film industry to meet professionals, the Festival is especially attentive to the talent of artists that contribute to the growth of the medium.
It has become famed for the balance it has established between the artistic quality of the films and their commercial impact.
Festival also reveals and reflects the evolution and trends in world cinema while defending the notion of “cinema d’auteur for a wide audience”.
