BANGKOK, VISAKHA PUJA DAY

Thailand, South East Asia
Thailand is the only one Southeast Asian nation, which never has been colonized by European powers. This region is really extraordinary. With extremely rich source of nature and history, also in case of religion. Its tradition includes an amazing deal of influences from India, China, Cambodia and the rest of Southeast Asia. The most typical religion is Theravada Buddhism, which ranks amongst even the highest in the world

Bangkok is the capital and the most famous city of Thailand. The most pleasant time to visit Bangkok is the cool season that lasts from November till February. It is the coolest and also the driest period of the year— than even Emerald Buddha statue in Wat Phra Kaew wears a warm scarf ! Most of Bangkok’s sights are concentrated on the island of Rattanakosin, often referred to as the “Old City”. Out of Bangkok’s hundreds of temples, the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arunusually make up the top 3.

In the Free Time Bangkok offers many kinds of attractions. Funs of active or passive style of sightseeing could be happy at the same level. For sure the best way is just to connect both of this way of spending time. Perfect day could be with seeing the “top three” places like temples: Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. Than Bangkok makes special bicycle-tours to explore parks, temple complexes, markets and the more quiet residential areas of eastern Bangkok. In more crowded places fortunately it is possible to cycle also on the pavement. When someone wants to experience Bangkok in a little bit more active style, across hideaways and countryside, green paddy fields, colourful orchid farms, peaceful lotus fields and touched by the special charm of Thai way of country life at personal level, bicycle is a great way to do it. Probably the best one!

Spring in a country of Thailand shows a lot of extraordinary colours, shapes and spirit. Especially in May, when happens very important Day, called Visakha Puja, which is he holiest day of the year for Buddhists everywhere. Celebrated every year in month of May, always on the date of the full-moon, the day is often simply referred to as ‘Buddha Day’. Because of this occasion, merit-making will be held nationwide as a tribute to His Majesty the King in celebration of his birthday anniversary. One of the most spectacular sites for celebrations this special period is Wat Benjamabophit in Bangkok. Here during a beautiful evening takes place special procession with candles. Also usually known as the Marble Temple, Wat Benjamabophit contains this time the ashes of King Rama V. This time all over the country people go to temples to pay homage to Buddha. For foreigners is it a great occasion to see the culture of Buddhism. If someone is able to demonstrate some knowledge about this special day, it is better to avoid alcohol and visit the temple ( of course respectfully dressed).

Thailand is a perfect place to catch the balance between rush and calmness and just enjoy the harmony of life.
