Buenos AiresFor three nights Recoleta Wine Tour Urbano takes over the street of Arenales, between Montevideo and Cerrito, in the opulent neighbourhood of Recoleta.
The evening repeats itself on three separate evenings, always on the third Friday in March, April and May. Each block is sponsored by a different wine-producing state and some of the nearby restaurants offer special menus (as always an abundance of top notch steak) to mark the occasion.
With a prepaid ticket evening strollers can sample various high quality Argentinian wines, although beware of knocking back too much as drunkeness is a social faux pas amongst the stylish porteños. Tickets can be purchased from the Ticketek website.
Two football-mad halves of a football-mad city meet twice a year for the great matches. More than 65,000 fans stream into the stadium to watch Buenos Aires rivals Boca Juniors (Maradona’s team) and River Plate fight it out.
On match days, the dress code in Buenos Aires is strictly blue and yellow or red and white. All thoughts of work disappear and crowds gather around any available television.
The fixture list can be found on the Football Universe website. The teams may also meet in the cup competitions; these fixtures will feature on the club websites.
