A blog is a blog of course

and a travelblog is…
A blog is a way to announce to the world that you exist. Its your online journal, a personal diary blogged online for the world to see. It can be simple. Or not. If youre travelling, you can now create a travel blog, complete with all the online bells and whistles youd need as a traveller on the road.

Now, you can clog the entire web with your travel brags. I mean blogs. Good news for travellers on the road anyway.

Theres no more need to email obscenely long lyrical prose and pub crawl ramblings to everyone back home. You can let mum know where you are in the world, and take full advantage of your traveller bragging rights on the web. You wont need to clog your friends inboxes at home post it all online and let one of the many travelblog sites organise it for you, keeping it safe and warm for your eventual return home.

Bells and whistles, you say? There is now a range of blog sites specifically aimed at the traveller, offering a list of services longer than some departure gate queues. And many of their services are gasp free! Most blog sites will allow unlimited blogging, photo uploads, feedback and comments from your visitors, itineraries and route mapping. Others will let you upload video files and mp3s to your blog, and even automatically email your subscribers for you each time you blog.

In the age of technology, with internet points and WiFi hotspots usually within spitting distance of your hostel or guesthouse, theres no reason not to travelblog. In fact, its sometimes easier than sending a postcard even…

Where to start? Decide what you want from your blog true love or a quick fling? Fame, or anonymity? Bells and whistles, or just the bare basics? Research whats available, choose your perfect match, grab yourself an ID, a blogger account and start writing!

Happy blogging!
