Atene CheapArt 8-23 December 08′

An open place for artistic experimenting and research
Cheap Art is a concept where art is both exhibited and made available for public purchase.
Is the most contemporary organized artistic movement and the only context art gallery in Greece.

Through its profile it came into contact with a wide public – 75000 people – in Athens and Thessalonica, something that was quite impressive. It gave the opportunity to more than 250 artists both young and older – to communicate with a wide demanding public from all social status.

The gallery in the bohemian neighbourhood of Exarchia hosts a free annual showcase exposing the work of over 250 up-and-coming artists, as well as various alternative exhibitions throughout the year.

Since its inception in 1995, Cheap Art has been both a contemporary organised artistic movement and the only context art gallery in Greece.

Its philosophy and practice involves establishing co operations that are not otherwise feasible due to financial reasons. In collaboration with each artist cheapart has the opportunity to include in its exhibitions novel works that other galleries and artistic organizations do not exhibit because they are considered to be of high risk.
