Barcelona a sunny city

The Catalan capital
Some of the greatest architecture is found in Barcelona. Antoni Gaudi, Barcelona’s famous architect from the late 1800s, is responsible for most of the amazing building found scattered around the city. The Catalan capital will give your eyes a sight to behold.

The Gothic Quarter of Barcelona is the centre of the old city with many buildings dating back to medieval times and few dating back to Roman times. The still-work-in-progress church of the Sagrada Familia is the apex of architecture in Barcelona with plans to complete the work by 2026. Park Guell is the best garden for a walk – it is filled with elements of spectacular architecture and mosaics galore.

Continue on the art-ridden path and find yourself at Caixa Forum, and browse the latest collection for free. In the vicinity is the Museum of Catalan Art, one of the spectacular museums that holds Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque artwork, not to mention the largest collection of Catalan artwork in all of Spain. For more contemporary artwork, take the metro over to the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art.

During your trip, be sure to find a tapa, or seafood restaurant that serves fresh shrimp and Catalan favorites. While in Barcelona, feast your eyes and stomach.
