New York city is the most popular city in the United States, and its center is also the most populous metropolitan aerea in the world. The famous city exerts a poerful influence over global commerce, finance, fashion, culture, art, media, research, education, and entertainment. It’s also an important center for international affairs.

Looking back in history, New York city was founded as a comercial trading post by the Dutch in 1624, and was called New Amsterdam until 1664 when the colony came under English control. It was a capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790, and country’s largest city since 1790. New York is the most linguistically diverse city in world- 800 languages are spoken.

Situated on the eastern coats of the northern America, facing the Atlantic, is located to the seals of the river Hudson, that is also the point where the large island of Long Island is more near the Continent, from that is separated alone from the tight East River. The Ombelico of the world, the Large apple (the Big Apple), Gotham City, the town that does not sleep ever, the capital of the world (by means of the Stock Exchange of Wall Street) how was the street road nicknamed, is certainly a between the town more mattering and one between the greater financial centers of the world. New York city has 8 millions of inhabitants, that originally had said “Knickerbockers”, distributed on an area of 786 km² divided administratively in 5 neighbourhoods of Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island, that are divided in tens of neighbourhoods.From the terrorist attack of the 11 September 2001, that destroyed one of its symbols, injured to the heart the Towers Twins, the metropolis showed a large force of reaction: the zone hit, famous all over the world like Ground Zero will be rebuild in the turn of years. Today New York is America’s largest city, economic powerhouse of the world, and the so-called Big Apple. With so many unique attractions, theaters, world-famous museums, and skyscrapers there is always plenty to do in New York.
