International Mountain bike races have been organized for the past 12 years; each year their success growing, The Cyprus Sunshine Cup now consists of 3 international races of Class 1 in the International Calendar.

In Cyprus as a racing fanatic, touring cyclist or mountain biker you will find tons of exciting challenges in a Mediterranean climate with a divine combination of sea, beaches and mountains.

The island has perfect weather conditions for cycling, especially between October and April, when temperatures are somewhere between a temperate 15°C and 25°C,

But what makes Cyprus stand out, as a haven for cyclists is its size. It is like an entire continent condensed into one small but diverse island.

As the third largest island of the Mediterranean, Cyprus is gorgeous beaches, pine-clad peaks, busy modern Europeanised towns and tranquil old stone villages, picturesque vineyards, olive groves and ancient ruins with the short distances meaning that there are rapid changes of terrain, within the space of 10 km you can go from rocky to clay, and steep to flat, enabling you to experience all surfaces within a short period of time, and making the island into one huge mountain bike arena.

Riders can hone their skills on the unique trails of the mountains of Troodos or Machairas, or in the Akamas region, riding steep slopes that have been ridden and tested by many world champions, you can also cycle anywhere on the island, except for it’s motorways.
