Pig festival in France

To honor the beloved animal
August is a month of the year, when French people are having Pig festival, to honor, the beloved animal, the humble swine, it’s actually more region than hamlet. La Purcailhade is held every year in village called Trie-Sur-Baise.

The Village is one of the busiest pig-rearing areas in France, and its organizers The Brotherhood of the pigs are throwing a party to honor its animal, every second Sunday of August. It refreshes the Trie-Sur-Baise. . The inaugural festival was back in 1975.

You might be thinking that French are too posh to make this kind of event annual, but you are mistaken, people from Trie-sur-Baïse are not so cool for the Europe as those ones from Paris. They are not afraid to look silly and dirty at least for one day, for the Festival of the Pig!

There is so much going on, starting with piglet race, the best piggy outfit, competition to be the best sausage eater and at least but not last – the great food, all from pork. Unfortunately for the pigs, many food stands display cooked arrays of pork, bacon, ham and other porcine products, which might sound cruel, but its a fact that the best food is made from pork.

If after the squealing and screaming your ears still didn’t get enough, there is a live bands playing, music and dancing but the unequivocal highlight of the day is the national pig imitation competition.

The most fun I guess would be the Pig Imitating Competition, where squealing like a pig is not enough, you have to act like one – move, eat, imitating the pathways of their lives. Each piggy call must correspond to a specific moment in a pig’s life, from noisy farmyard birth to death under the knife . So if it happens for you to be there nearby the Trie-Sur-Baise town, you definitely should go, you will have fun , dancing, enjoying, with full stomach.
