Best beaches in Rome

Nettuno, Ostia, Anzio
You are planning to visit Rome, one of the world’s most beautiful city, on August, which is the time that Italians are going out of the city to get some rest from the old art masterpiece. And you think it’s perfect and not so crowded, well, you will meet bunch of tourists thinking the same. August is time when most of the offices and places are closed, you will jump on many visitors with maps, summer hats, cooling down their feet in local fountains.

And of course,when most of you think of Rome, beach is not the first think that pops in your mind! But there are many nice beaches pretty near by, and we will tell you where and how to get there! Lazio region is considered as a dividing point between North and South Italy, of course Rome’s region, which is right in the middle of Italy’s map.

The closest and most crowded beach for the same reason near by, is Ostia Beach. If your Hostel / Hotel in Rome is in the city center, it takes only half an hour with the train , which brings you directly to little beach town Ostia. You will see the beach from the train, and whichever you seemed to like, just get out in that stop, even if you are wrong, you can walk by the beach, picking up what’s the best for you, your friends or your family. There are many public beaches, not so clean of course than the private ones, which usually costs around 10€, you get your sun chair and services, like rest rooms, showers and in some also changing room is included. There are many nice bars in each private beach, its so much cleaner and enjoyable. Basicly, the price will vary depending on what you want out of your beach experience. As the best beach in Ostia is considered Gambrius.

Than an hour from Rome’s center is another beach is Anzio, more like port city or fishing village. It was made in World War II by its military landing spot Allied Forces. As its fiushing village, many great restaurants are located there, so you will enjoy beach and also a delicious food. The beach is located in a rocky landscape, giving the place some edge, with fully equipped with Roman ruins.

Have you heard about the Roman God of the sea? Neptune! Nettuno is another nice beach just one hour from Rome, called after this god, Nettuno. It was founded in 9th Century, mostly the beaches are private, you can also get a great hotel next to the beachfront, lines of them in Nettuno. It has a really relaxing seaside and at the same time entertaining night life.
