Every nation and every country has its own traditions and things they are famous and proud of…Swiss for chocolate and cheese, France for wines, Italy for pizza and so on…but there is one country well known for great cars and bet wine sellers and drinkers…Germany, and there is a special festival for them, the world wide famous Oktoberfest. And the best city to celebrate it in of course is Munich, sure, there are many others trying to celebrate the same festival, but it’s just not the same, its like eating pizza out of Italy.Oktoberfest is world’s largest fair with 6 million visitors , it’s definitely the highlight in all world, people come from all over Germany and diverse cities and countries on the planet. This event is very important in Bavarian Culture, it’s like a Disneyland for adults…obviously those ones who love beer.
Get a lot of cash with you 🙂 usually litre of beer costs 7-8 euros and some soda 4euros…consider that this time is also great time to earn money for Bavarians…but don’t get the wrong idea about the Oktoberfest as a mad party for drunk people…Germans are also famous for delicious snack that go together with beer, sausages and grilled meat…the bad side of all this event is that you will come back with some extra pounds, definitely gaining weight, but it’s worth it.
The festival starts on 22nd of September until 7th of October, so plenty of time to enjoy…take your friends with you, even if you are alone, the beer will make you new friends 🙂 The main tent of the ceremony is called “Schottenhamel”, that’s the official opening place, with some traditions that haven’t been changed by years, Munich’s mayor taps the first keg of Oktoberfest beer with the traditional cry O’zapft is- It is tapped! For the best seats, come before 9 AM! Also great Parade is expected, be there!
