Kuta is in southern Bali, Indonesia. A former fishing village, it was one of the first towns to see tourist development. It is one of Indonesia’s major tourist destinations and known internationally for its long sandy beach, many restaurants, bars, and surfers.

Kuta Beach was originally discovered by tourists as a surfing paradise. The 5 km long wide stretch of sand is often full of sunbathers and even if most of the serious surfers have moved on to some other places, there are still a lot of them.

Kuta can appear as chaotic, overcrowded and congested. But somehow it works, and hundreds of thousands of visitors enjoy their time in Kuta every year. It has been a popular stop on the classic backpacking route in South East Asia for a very long time.

Kuta is a popular snorkel trip. The crystal clear waters of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida will allow you to see many varieties of colorful fish and corals.

Kuta Beach restaurants serve various types of cuisine, from local to international selections. They have a really laid-back atmosphere with beautiful views.
A few of them are open until later and merge into Kuta’s lively nightlife scene. You can party all night long at the beach clubs and underground nightclubs of Seminyak or head to central Kuta.

The Bali Bomb Memorial is on Jl Legian opposite the corner of Poppies II. Every year on the anniversary date there is a ceremony mourning those killed or wounded by the bombs.

The first Kuta Karnival was held in 2003. It’s a big beach party consisting of games, art, competitions, surfing and much more over five days. It usually includes a food festival.
