Staging a great party
If there is something that has to be related to Australia, I guess it would be definitely horses, yes, countless Australian movies are with those lovely animals. So you can imagine how many festivals are with and about horses. August is a special month, many cities and country sides are having races and rides. One of the busiest cities are Queensland. It all happens in the village of Louth, situated on the banks of the Darling River, dating back in 1800 when Louth Christmas Races were held on the 27th December of that year. The most successful starter was a horse named “Winnie” who was placed first in three races, carrying a weight of ten stone , however, there is not that much changed since than, they have a reputation for staging a great party – an annual race meeting that keeps the crowds coming back year after year…this year it will be held on 11th of August.
Louth, the colourful bush characters and the experience of watching the horses thunder past the winning post in a cloud of dust, if you are not into that kind of entertainment, you could just hang around enjoying the party atmosphere. These days the club stages a 7 race program, the prize money will go up to $42,500 plus trophies and sashes. Australians love this kind of entertainment, it’s a nice occasion to get together, specially for male, there will be bars, barbecue and afternoon tea and so much more for the full utilization of patrons.
