Venice is famous for many festivals and events, but most of all for the beauty that city brings with it. The most magnificent and romantic city in Italy…and there is something special going on every September, that makes film lovers, makers and those ones who enjoy to meet up in the Venice International Film Festival.The Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica is the oldest film festival still in existence today, so you can just imagine how famous it is. The screenings take place at different cinemas, but the main action is the Lido area. There is also a lot of history going on, it was established back in 1932, with some fascist propaganda films and imitations of Hollywood comedies…after the Second World War, the International Film Festival reflected the new climate of freedom of expression. Hollywood cinema stareted to step in Europe, so that was a chance for genius like Fellini to get in , while influencing American film of the 1960s.
This year the Venice Film Festival is directed by Alberto Barbera. This year it will be the 69th , organized by La Biennale di Venezia, started already at 29th of August through September 8th. The main aim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote all the various aspects of international cinema in all its forms: as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and tolerance.
