For the locals is not just about the New Years, they also celebrate the sea goddess, lemanja, wearing white, carrying a statue of Iemanjá to the beach and launch flowers and other offerings into the sea. You can easily take a part of this procession, learning a bit of their culture. I guess, you have no idea what are you missing, DJ and live music divided in 4 stages along marvelous Copacabana beach, a laser show, and of course already mentioned fireworks. This year it will be even more special, because of the major sporting events to be hosted by Rio de Janeiro (Military World Games, the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the 2016 Summer Olympics), they have called it The Golden Decade.

The very main location of one of four stages is located in front of the famous Copacabana Palace Hotel, another playing Pop and Rock music at the Rua Santa Clara, the third up on Leme BEach playing BEat Radio 98 hits and the fourth near Rua Xavier da Silveira, playing the best of Brazilian 70’s and 80’s. So make sure, you choose your type of music and head there to have the best new years of your life, this year’s theme will be Bahian Samba music.
