This year’s Christmas Market in Leipzig will take place from November, 26 to December, 23.And as every year it will attract thousands of visitors to our beautiful city. The Christmas Market in Leipzig is one of the biggest and most popular markets in the whole country and it is also the second oldest one with a history going back to the 15th century. More than 250 decorated stalls offer jewellery, traditional crafts, toys and of course countless delicious dainties for every taste.
The centre of the Christmas Market is located on Leipzig’s market place. There you’ll also find the big christmas tree – more than 20 metres tall and the stage, which hosts an elaborate programme during the whole time.
But also in the surrounding streets and alleys you’ll find lots of stalls and many things to explore.
The historic Christmas Market “Alt Leipzig” is located on the Naschmarkt. A Ferris Wheel on the Augustusplatz offers a fantastic view over the city and the Finnische Dorf nearby offers specialties from the far north. In the Salzgässchen children can take a ride on the historical merry-go-round – but only after they have visited the enchanted forest.
And the daily trombone concerto from the town hall’s balcony will also put every adult in a festive mood.
