National Museum of Oriental Art

Masterpieces from Seoul
South Korea – an admirable Asian country situated on Korean Peninsula has just sent a message to Rome. Starting from 14th May you have a great opportunity to discover culture, art and history of this country. Over seventy masterpieces of Korean craft art are now being exhibited in National Museum of Oriental Art ‘Giuseppe Tucci’.

Not only you can admire the greatest paintings but also a vast variety of textile, silk and metal art. You can catch a glimpse of Korean history while contemplating everyday objects: musical instruments, clothes, furniture and jewellery. Those who are interested in religion will find intriguing an impressive collection of Buddha statues.

Entire display gives us a message that this small country situated between the Yellow Sea and The Sea of Japan although being on a huge way of development and industrialization has also wonderful artists and a great heritage of craft art.

You can enjoy the exhibition named “Maestri artigiani della Corea. Capolavori da Seoul” (Craftsman masters from Corea. Masterpieces from Seoul.) till 14th July. The museum is open everyday (except mondays) and you can participate in a free guided tour which goes on every Sunday at 11am.
