You can find this modern city in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, gateway to the famous Three Gorges that form the focal point of the city’s tourism industry. Historically, the Fishing Town is the site of China’s ancient battlefields. Chongqing is also the starting point of the Yangtze River Cruise that takes in the stunning scenery of the cliff structures of the Dazu Grottoes, carved during the ninth century and the Gold Buddhist Mountain with diverse flora and fauna. Within its borders Chongqing encompasses a wealth of water reserves, mineral resources and dense forests. Ancient Ci Qi Kou village lures tourists to linger in its streets to buy handicraft souvenirs and the city is the perfect place to try some famous hot Sichuan cuisine from a street vendor or restaurant.
